As a result of the merging between the national film festival for youth in Norway, the Amandus film festival, and The Norwegian Student Film Festival a new international film festival has emerged: Amandus Lillehammer International Student Film Festival. The festival focuses on being the biggest and most significant film festival for film students, young filmmakers and film enthusiasts in the Nordic region.

The Amandus Festival has through the years obtained the reputation of being the biggest and most important film festival for young filmmakers under the age of 20. In 2017 the festival will celebrate its 30th anniversary, and it is time to expand! Through the merging with The Norwegian Student Film Festival, a whole new target group gets its focus: the film students from all over the Nordic region.

Amandus will henceforth become the biggest and most important film festival for young film makers. The festival will be one that has a reach both far and near, to inspire, inform and stimulate the film fascination of the whole target group – while still have a prestigious high-level competition, with a jury celebrating the very best. This award aims to become what all fresh film makers will dream to claim!

Taking the future of filmmakers seriously

Audio visual content is by far one of the most substantial forms of expression for today’s youth, therefore it is an important focus area. The festival wishes to shine a light on the voice of the next generation, and through Amandus it has the ability of following the talents on their paths from early young film makers to adult film professionals.

The festival will create a national awareness for film as a form of expressions amongst youth and at the same time establish Lillehammer as an attractive meeting ground between young film makers, film students and the industry. The result will be a new and attractive film festival and that aims to become the most significant hotspot for young film makers of the Nordic region.
