Neverland

Markus is a 15 year old boy who feels emotions no one should have to feel. Feelings he knows is wrong, which can make him a monster if he looses control. Based on a real person, Pariah tells the story of a person society rarely wishes to acknowledge.

Winner: Amandus STUDENT: Best Directing (2017)

The winner of the best directing award is clearly committed to visual storytelling. With precise use of sound and images and only minimal use of dialogue, he manages to give us access to the mind of a introverted and deeply conflicted 15 year old. The filmmaker also shows great bravery, not shying away from a taboo subject and treating it with surprising compassion and even tenderness. We have great hopes for his future films.
