Who can enter?
Amandus International is open to filmmakers aged 13 to 20, from anywhere in the world.
The key creative roles, and the majority of the team behind the film, must be within this age range. Outside help is allowed, but limited to advisory or non-creative roles. Actors and any composer of original music do not need to meet the age requirement.
Maximum 15 minutes
Your film cannot be longer than 15 minutes.
Categories
Fiction, documentary, music video, or animation. Choose whichever category best fits your film.
Music in the film
All rights to any copyrighted material used in your film must be in order. If you use music you don’t own yourself, you need permission from the artist or the producer. Have you got permission, feel free to mention it in the comment field when submitting. We encourage the use of original music, or music that is cleared for free use.
What you need for your submission
- General information about the film (title, length, category/genre)
- A short film description for use in the program and on our website (ideally not a plain retelling of the plot, and no spoilers)
- A little about how and in what context the film was made
- The names of who made the film
- A preview copy (see below)
- Optional: a poster or image from the film for promotional use — can be sent later if the film is nominated
How to submit
You can submit directly through our website, or through FilmFreeway if your film is already registered there.
The easiest way to deliver your film is through a video streaming service like YouTube or Vimeo. On YouTube, you can set your film to «unlisted» — that way only you and the people you share the link with can watch it. On Vimeo, you can also password-protect your video for extra security — remember to include the password. Vimeo’s free version has a 500 MB limit.
This is only a preview copy for the selection committee, so it doesn’t need to be top quality — an h264-compressed 720p mp4 file works well. Alternatively, you can send the file via Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer (preferably under 1 GB).
What you confirm when submitting
When you submit, you’ll also be asked to:
- Give a self-declaration on any use of AI in the film
- Consent to the film being forwarded to other festivals
- Consent to the film being screened on Amandus Online
Privacy
When you submit a film, we register information about you (name, email, phone), about other contributors (names, and birth year for director, producer, and screenwriter), as well as details about the production (school, place, region/country) and the film. We use this to assess the submission, put together the program, contact you, and — if your film is selected — feature it and you in the program, on our websites, and in festival materials.
You can edit what you’ve submitted up until the submission deadline, via the link in your email confirmation. Contact information is deleted after three years at the latest. You can read our full privacy policy at amandus.no/en/privacy.
